Izumisano city
Our hometown blessed with mountains, lands and sea.
The strategic point of land and sea passage connecting Namba and Kinokuni for a long time. "Rokusai-ichi" (markets opened 6 times per month) opened along the highway in the Middle Ages, vessels ran all over the country in the early modern times, Sano created wealthy merchants "Meshino and Karakane”, who appeared in the old novel "Nihon Eitai-gura (The Eternal Storehouse Of Japan)" written by Saikaku Ihara. Textile industry was flourished in Meiji period, Sano was developed as a central city of southern Senshu area. History and culture built and brought up with sweat, tears and wisdom of ancient people are retained in a variety of fields, such as buildings, paintings, crafts and literature in this town.
Nowadays Izumisano has purpose to become a new active town that is open to the world. We have the idea that a clue to activation of this town depends on whether many people realize again the identity of this town.

Along with people of Izumisano and the people who love this area, while preserving the cultural landscape, the use of traditional culture and historical heritage, promoting the variety of cultural and artistic activities, aiming the activation of the city and tourism, we aim to contribute to community development of rich creativity.
- Rediscovery and public promotion of the history and culture in Senshu.
- Preservation and restoration of walkways such as the old road toward Kumano Shrine, highway to Kishu and so on.
- Preservation and use of old folk houses and streets, network business.
- Flavor of Edo: Sano machiba. Designated manager of Former Niigawa Family House
- Activity and business in order to activate tourism.
